Description

Robert Half has partnered with a reputable and growing client in the area to hire an experienced Accounting Manager to lead their accounting team in managing the general ledger, financial reporting, and accounting operations for their service contracting business. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, leadership skills, and experience in the service contracting industry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and development.

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, including revenue recognition, expense allocation, and project costing.

  • Coordinate and assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.

  • Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to track project costs, revenue recognition, and profitability analysis.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights into business performance and support decision-making processes.

  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and mitigate financial risks.

  • Assist with the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing monitoring and variance analysis to ensure alignment with financial goals.

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related

  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting

  • At least 2+ years supervisory experience of a mid-size team (5+ people)

  • Experience in the service contracting industry or similar field with knowledge of project accounting and WIP

  • Proficiency in ERP accounting software (Intacct, NetSuite, Dynamics, etc) and strong Excel skill

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
