Description Robert Half is filling a Controller job opening which will have broad business engagement and impact with a business in the Manufacturing field. This Controller position is for candidates who can manage the process to ensure that models are correct and are fully accrued each month, verify and hold the operations team accountable to ensure end to end incentive processing, payments, accounting and related financial controls are operating effectively. The Controller position will be located in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is a short-term contract / temporary engagement. Key responsibilities

  • Ongoing monitoring of actual spend against budget, as well as leading actions needed for any expected shortfalls

  • Obtain understanding of key financial results and movements across programs to summarize and discuss with key business partners

  • Collaborate with various business partners for various program controllership and FP& A activities such as ensuring accrual models are accurate and accounting methods are appropriate, as well as true-up activities and answer queries from business, area and subsidiary controllers

  • Support SOX controls through the collation of evidence and qualitative discussion of monthly financial results across global programs

  • Work closely with Treasury to provide timely cash flow forecasts

  • Review and monitor that controls are designed and operating effectively in partnership with compliance

  • Manage all processes and tools for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting accountable programs Requirements - Implement and improve changes in procedures immediately

  • Collections management experience preferred

  • Foundational knowledge in Business to government (B2G)

  • Strong familiarity with manufacturing

  • Solid understanding of month end closings

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to implement solutions and vendor management experience with good organizational skills

  • ERP system knowledge required

  • Excellent proficiency in office and accounting computer systems

  • Background in virtual engagement with global teams around the world and being a leader across finance teams

  • Professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field

    • CPA and/or CMA preferred
  • Aptitude for communication and negotiation, building trusted advisor/consultant relationships and influencing Executives and Business Decision Makers
