Description

The General Manager will have responsibility for building and supporting operations. The General Manager will be responsible for growing, re-defining, developing and managing the product lines, distribution channels and strategy with an emphasis on high quality growth and customer retention processes. As a highly visible executive, the General Manager will lead by example to instill sophisticated and effective management skills throughout the organization.

They will define the structure for managing operations and hire and/or develop the best and brightest individuals for the organization. Leveraging the current products and experience, the initial priority is to quickly grow capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieving the agreed upon business goals while building a quality operation.

  • Develop and implement the overall strategic plan, including acquisitions and adding new services to meet the company’s projected high growth.

  • Developing and institutionalizing the strategic operations and supply chain model.

  • Working with the Business Development group to enhance Medisurge’s offerings and develop new customers

  • Establishing new channel partners and ensuring existing relationships are optimized. Develop a “best in class” supply chain and operations plan.

  • Creating a world-class medical device operation.

  • Responsible for operations and execution of product plans that serve customers, optimize costs and maximize results.

  • Responsible for the safety of all employees.

  • Develop strategies and measurement systems to track and manage the performance of operations which may include multiple facilities.

  • Ensure proper receiving, warehousing and transportation of materials associated with the manufacturing operation.

  • Guide the operation toward technical excellence. Establish an organization which can measure and improve manufacturing efficiency fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Oversee the engineering function chartered with designing custom engineered solutions to specific customer problems. This involves product, equipment and process design.

  • Ensure that the local engineering organization collaborates with corporate engineering resources to insure we do not “reinvent” technical solutions.

  • Promote and foster innovation within the engineering and product development process in an effort to provide timely, differentiated engineering solutions to customer problems.

  • Ensure the smooth transition of new products from the design stage through the start-up of manufacturing.

  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement, utilizing key performance indicators and communicating with all employees.

  • Ensure that production orders are filled on time, at the highest quality level and at the lowest possible cost. The manufacturing function tracks and measures its performance by virtue of on-time delivery, job by job costing analysis, and various quality assurance measures designed to identify and solve problems. The manufacturing function includes procurement, vendor relations, inventory management, and plant safety functions.

  • Responsible for the planning and executing of a daily production schedule designed to meet customer requirements providing delivery commitments for all customer orders.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in business, engineering.

  • MBA highly preferred.

  • Five to ten or more years’ experience building and leading a manufacturing environment, medical device experience highly recommended.

  • Experience developing and implementing operational processes and infrastructure in support of the organization’s revenue growth plans and positioning. Sound understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes is essential.

  • A proven track record in building and developing an organization in an environment of rapid change. Demonstrated ability to rapidly recruit, train, motivate and develop a world-class staff and operation.

  • Demonstrated hands-on participation in the strategic planning process. This includes client relationship development, close interaction with the sales organization, and diagnosing business opportunities.

  • Demonstrated ability to build lasting professional relationships with senior-level company executives both internally and externally.

  • An individual with a strong entrepreneurial and business development orientation/track record and demonstrated negotiating skills.

  • Proven leadership skills in assimilating the broad vision of the business and distilling the corporate strategy into a profitable, consistent operation.

  • Strong financial skills and previous P& L management responsibilities.

  • Previous direct customer contact with revenue generation responsibility.

  • Experience managing sales and marketing functions.

  • Knowledge of regulated Quality Assurance systems and experience working with Standards such as FDA GMP and ISO-9000

  • Experience in progressive manufacturing disciplines that drive continuous improvement. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience preferred.
