Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Greensboro, North Carolina
Description We are looking to bring on board an experienced Sr. Accountant in the construction industry, located in Greensboro, North Carolina. This role involves the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and assisting with audit preparations as well as end of month, quarter, and year closures. This strategic role is pivotal in analyzing financial statements, resolving account discrepancies, and recommending cost reduction strategies.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately prepare and oversee the preparation of all journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
• Assist in closing subsidiary ledgers and making intercompany entries.
• Verify all transactions for accuracy and completion.
• Assist in audit preparation and respond to inquiries by external auditors and management.
• Conduct month end, quarter end, and year end close.
• Analyze financial statements and prepare financial statements.
• Review documents like receipts, invoices, travel expenses, reimbursements, requests for reimbursement, billing statements, and bank records.
• Recommend strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
• Generate general ledger reports as needed for Controller or CFO.
• Ensure proper preparation, retention, and organization of records of the organization's financial transactions and activities.
• Review internal controls and assist in mentoring junior staff.
• Perform ad hoc reporting through report writers. Requirements • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a similar field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction or contractor industry.
• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, and Journal Entries.
• Demonstrable experience with Month End Close procedures.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
• Knowledge and experience in using financial software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP.
• Must possess strong analytical skills for interpreting and manipulating financial data.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear and concise reporting.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work output.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices and financial trends.
• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
