Description

Robert Half Healthcare Practice has partnered with a healthcare company located in Greenwood, IN to secure a remote Full-Time Certified Professional Coder, CPC! However, this person MUST reside in Indiana. The CPC is responsible for the accurate, timely posting of all charges to ensure the maximum reimbursement for services performed by the physicians, Responsible for ensuring the compliance of carrier regulations as it pertains to billable services, and Responsible for the accurate, timely posting of payments received in the site offices and daily balancing thereof. This position is remote following successful on-site training.

This position is Monday-Friday with a flexible schedule!

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for the audit and daily balancing of encounter forms forwarded for entry by the site offices.

  2. Responsible for ensuring the accurate insurance demographic entry of patient information to enable timely reimbursement. Responsible for the notification and accumulation of correct data from Physicians, hospital personnel and/or office personnel, in the event incomplete data is submitted.

  3. Responsible for current knowledge of all CPT-4 codes and modifiers, ICD-9 coding as well as any regulatory compliance issues as it pertains to billing of Physicians services.

  4. Responsible for notification to the Physician/Administration of any errors and/or compliance issues noted on submitted encounter forms for charge entry into the computer system.

  5. Responsible for the timely, accurate posting of all submitted encounter forms, hospital charges and any ancillary charges submitted by the Physicians supported by the Central Billing Operations.

  6. Responsible for the daily balancing of all posted charges/payments with the computer system and the Daily Batch Form sent by the site offices.

  7. Responsible for the follow up of all missing encounter forms, and claims on hold for further information as noted on the Daily Batch Form.

  8. Responsible for the communication to the appropriate manager of errors and problems with balancing on a daily basis.

  9. Responsible for rotation of coverage of all sites within the Corporation.

  10. Act as a liaison for the Central Billing Operations for all site locations.

  11. Responsible for the retrieval of chart notes used in the processing of appeals and/or refiling as requested by the Central Billing Operations employees.

  12. Ability to accurately code operative/patient notes as presented.

  13. Responsible for maintenance of all computer system processes and changes as it relates to the charge entry process.

  14. Responsible for adhering to the Corporate Confidentiality Policy.

  15. Responsible for cross training with other positions within the Corporation as designated by Management.

  16. Responsible for meeting the production and quality standards as set for this position.

    Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certification by nationally recognized coding group required

  • Required: Must Reside in Indiana

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience: Working knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding

  • Knowledge of Insurance regulations and procedures

  • Minimum of 3 years coding/charge entry experience

  • Basic accounting/balancing skills

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to meet standard production requirements

  • Ability to prioritize work load
