Robert Half Network System Administrator in Hackensack, New Jersey


Primary duties include maintaining the integrity and security of Company’s network and the systems connected to it. Will have extensive knowledge of network connectivity, protocols, network security devices, network types, including wireless, fiber optic or Cat5, and common operating systems, including Windows & Linux.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for configuring all new network connections, internal and remote work stations and or tablets and laptops.

  • Respond to all requests for help support and troubleshooting calls and emails from users of the network. Diagnose and offer repair instructions remotely as well as in person.

  • Monitor network access for bottlenecks, security threats or problems with connectivity.

  • Configure and maintain security devices to ensure the safety of company software, systems and data. (Firewalls as well as cloud back-up)

  • Create and maintain a level of overall service that supports our corporate and department goals for complete and on-time delivery.

  • Create and maintain reports on all company hardware assets, software licensing agreements, and help desk requests.

  • Support all new ELD, EDI, B2B And B2C and web portal implementations in support of the department and corporate goals.

  • Review and negotiate external support rates with consultants and service providers.

  • Communicates clearly and directly with employees concerning their support needs and the network performance.

  • Reviews ongoing performance results and identify needs for any upgrade or improved performance. Responsible for suggesting methods to improve the company network, process and efficiency.

  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive morale, productivity, and continued improvement.


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, or the equivalent level of work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • IT related certificates (preferred ... not required)
