Robert Half Financial Data Scientist in Hanover, Maryland

Description

We are offering an opportunity for a meticulous and highly organized Financial Data Scientist in the Health Pharm/Biotech industry, located in the EST or CST timezones. The Financial Data Scientist plays a critical role in supporting business partners by extracting, analyzing, and transforming financial data. This position involves extensive data cleansing, massaging, aggregating, and balancing for use in financial accounting and reporting. The role requires a strong analytical aptitude to manage data used in preparing journal entries, financial reports, and ensuring compliance with standards. Additionally, the candidate will be instrumental in evaluating business changes, testing system modifications, and implementing updates to financial processes and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and prepare data for detailed analysis.

  • Analyze data trends and correlations.

  • Build predictive models and support big data projects.

  • Design and develop databases.

  • Organize, interpret, and visualize data to communicate results to stakeholders.

  • Utilize data modeling techniques to bring cohesion to unstructured and semi-structured data.

  • Conduct quantitative analysis to derive insights, develop solutions, and lead them to successful delivery while measuring outcomes.

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, information systems, or a related field required.

  • Minimum of five years' experience in accounting or information systems.

  • Contract/project-centric industry experience preferred; life sciences background is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of Order to Cash processes.

  • Experience in accounting, finance, contract, and project accounting strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to drive data to insights and sustain processes within a large, matrixed organization.

  • Highly motivated, self-starter, full of initiative, and a collaborative team player.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, capable of developing data-driven reports.

  • In-depth knowledge of spreadsheet, reporting, query, and/or relational database software required.

  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft/Oracle Fusion preferred.

  • Relevant experience in project accounting and systems may substitute for formal education, with nine years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Demonstrated advanced experience/proficiencies in MS Access, Excel, Power Products (Power BI, Power Query, etc.), SQL, Alteryx.

  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
