Robert Half Staff Accountant in HARPER WOODS, Michigan

This position is for candidates with the ability to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. This position will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. We're looking for people who have a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.
What you get to do every single day
Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation
Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request
Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries
Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner
Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision
Position requirements: Multi-entity experience. The client will also look at candidates straight out of public accounting with 1-2 years of overall experience. Background working in QuickBooks desktop is preferred, but not required.

Proficiency in Quickbooks Premier
Quickbooks ProAdvisor experience
Command of Quickbooks Online
Proven knowledge of real estate
Well-founded grasp of Real Estate Accounting
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
1+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Proficient in ERP systems
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
