Robert Half Accounting Manager in Harrisonburg, Virginia

Description

We are searching for an Accounting Manager/Supervisor in the sales and distribution sector, based in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including processing customer applications, maintaining customer records, and resolving customer inquiries. They will also be required to monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement accounting policies, technical accounting analyses, and procedures.

• Assist the accounting team during the closing process to ensure deadlines are met.

• Prepare and coordinate fiscal year-end audits.

• Conduct sophisticated preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting.

• Generate timely reports on financial data analytics such as actual spend against budgets/outlook, the monthly flash report, and key financial metrics.

• Regularly reconcile accounts to completion.

• Produce ad hoc financial reports as needed.

• Encourage a competent, trained staff through goal setting, regular assessment, and development.

• Implement and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.

• Recognize and implement process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency.

• Monitor customer credit applications and maintain accurate customer credit records.

Requirements • Must have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the Automotive industry

• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

• Strong knowledge of Accounting Functions including General Ledger, Month End Close, Journal Entries, and Accruals

• Experience in Auditing and Billing Functions

• Advanced skills in handling and maintaining accounting records and financial reports

• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Proactive in identifying and resolving issues

• Ability to work independently and in a team

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
