In this role, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading an implementation of QuickBooks and an accounting function for a newly created spin-off. The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in the Hartford, Connecticut region.
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Support Finance Department initiatives, including QuickBooks implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems and work independently
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Quality experience with Full Cycle Accounting
QuickBooks experience required. Implementing QuickBooks a huge plus
Accounts Payable (AP) experience required
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience required
Practical knowledge of journal entries
General ledger experience required
General familiarity with month end closings
Proven knowledge of Purchasing Department
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
CPA or MBA preferred
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired
