POSITION: Manager of Financial Reporting

LOCATION: Hartford, CT - HYBRID (3 Days in Office / 2 Days Remote)

Position Overview: Closely collaborating with senior financial leaders, the Manager of Financial Reporting plays a pivotal role in overseeing diverse, multifaceted responsibilities that extend beyond traditional corporate accounting duties. This role encompasses leading special projects, spearheading process improvements, contributing to financial reporting, conducting technical accounting research, and managing relationships with internal and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Project Management:

  • Drive special projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timely delivery of results.

  • Champion process creation and enhancement initiatives, optimizing efficiency and accuracy within the corporate accounting function.

  • Act as a mentor on a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Financial Reporting and Technical Expertise:

  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policies.

  • Conduct complex technical accounting research and provide guidance on accounting treatment for significant transactions.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and assist in the preparation of SEC filings, as applicable.

  • Audit and Compliance Management:

  • Liaise with external auditors, facilitating audits and providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Collaborate with internal audit teams to implement recommendations and strengthen internal controls.

Requirements

  • 7+ Years of progressive experience in corporate and/or public accounting required, with Big4 or National Firm public experience preferred.

  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and hands-on experience with financial statement preparation and analysis.

  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of successfully leading teams and managing complex projects.

  • Financial Services industry experience preferred, but not required.

  • CPA certification/track required; advanced degree in accounting or finance preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
