Robert Half Staff Accountant in HAUPPAUGE, New York

As Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting throughout the monthly close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will review schedules for the reporting processes, take part in compliance, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This intricate position is involved in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the Hauppauge, New York area, this position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.
Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable
Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Command of general ledger
Account analysis experience
Solid understanding of Monthly Close
Strong familiarity with SAP
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Proficient in ERP systems
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
