Description Hayward client is looking for a contract / temporary Financial Aid Advisor. The Financial Aid Advisor plays a crucial role in assisting students and their families in navigating the financial aid process. The advisor provides guidance, information, and support to help students access and maximize available financial resources for their education. This role involves assessing eligibility, processing applications, and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies related to financial aid programs. Key Responsibilities:

Financial Aid Counseling: Provide personalized counseling to students and their families regarding financial aid options, eligibility criteria, and application processes. Assist students in understanding the financial implications of their educational choices and make informed decisions. Address inquiries, concerns, and issues related to financial aid promptly and professionally. Application Processing: Review and evaluate financial aid applications, including the verification of student and parent income, assets, and other relevant documentation. Determine financial aid eligibility based on federal, state, and institutional guidelines. Calculate and package financial aid awards, considering factors such as need-based grants, scholarships, work-study opportunities, and student loans. Compliance and Regulations: Stay current with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to financial aid. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation in accordance with privacy regulations. Reporting and Documentation: Generate and maintain accurate financial aid reports, records, and documentation. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies, as well as internal stakeholders. Participate in audits and compliance reviews related to financial aid programs. Requirements Experience in a higher education setting or financial aid office is preferred. Familiarity with student information systems (SIS) and customer relationship management (CRM) software is a plus. Familiarity with financial aid application systems and software. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and effectively. Excellent customer service skills and a student-centered approach. Attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial aid applications and maintaining records. Ability to analyze financial information, assess eligibility, and make informed decisions. Knowledge of financial literacy principles and the ability to educate and empower students in making sound financial decisions. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
