Description If you're an experienced accountant with a knack for accuracy, there's currently an opening through Robert Half for Staff Accountant at a growing Information Technology firm. Based in the Hermitage, Tennessee area, this exciting long-term contract / temporary opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. In addition, you will be in charge of communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and looking over schedules for the reporting processes.
How you will make an impact
Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting Requirements - navigating basic office equipment and protocols experience
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Proficient in ERP systems
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
