Robert Half Staff Accountant in Hoffman Estates, Illinois
Description
We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team based in HOFFMAN ESTATES, Illinois. The role involves supporting daily financial and accounting operations. The Staff Accountant will be integral to the preparation of financial statements, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Execute account reconciliations, including bank, inventory, and general ledger reconciliations
• Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Aid with cost accounting functions, including analyzing production costs, overhead, and inventory valuation
• Prepare journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with accounting standards
• Maintain fixed asset records and conduct periodic reviews of asset depreciation
• Help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
• Collaborate with operations and production teams to gather and analyze financial data
• Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support
• Monitor and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and increase efficiency
• Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures as needed
• Assist with special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Controller.
Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Demonstrated ability to perform Bank Reconciliations
• Solid understanding of General Ledger and Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP software
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Proven track record of maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing and operational use
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, solve problems, manage and meet deadlines and maintain a high quality of work
• Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
