Description

Accounting Manager role with a distribution company in the Holyoke area! The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department and managing a team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed timely and accurately. This position addresses tight deadlines and various accounting activities, including general ledger, payables, fixed assets and workflow.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager include:

• Ensure timely and accurate payables processing, payment, accounting, and reporting, operating within the Company’s guidelines.

• Track credits due from vendors and monitor vendor statements.

• Resolve invoice and vendor disputes as needed.

• Ensure the company’s fixed assets are properly maintained for corporate and tax books - capitalization, disposals and transfers.

• Complete period-end closings, including AP and FA to GL reconciliation and account analysis.

• Monitor aging of accounts payable and outstanding checks and research balances for abandoned property returns.

• Prepare and file 1099 information at year-end in compliance with IRS regulations.

• Identify and manage the implementation of process improvements and efficiencies, while maintaining strong internal controls.

• Oversee the filing of sales & use and personal property tax returns.

• Prepare annual budgets for assigned accounts.

• Participate in the preparation for the annual audit.

• Ad hoc reporting.

Minimum requirements for the Accounting Manager include 5+ years of relevant Accounting experience, previous supervisory experience, process improvement and strong Excel skills.
