Description

We are looking to bring on board a Controller in our team, based in HONOLULU, Hawaii. As a part of this role, you will be directing the financial affairs of the organization, overseeing accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. You will also serve as a resource to various entities within the organization, providing guidance on fiscal matters. Responsibilities:

• Oversee General Ledger (G/L) accounting and reconcile G/L accounts to subsidiary ledgers and statements from banks and investment accounts

• Develop and monitor compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls

• Monitor activity in the operating fund and other organization's restricted and unrestricted funds

• Ensure compliance with donor/trustee-imposed endowment fund restrictions

• Ensure quarterly documentation is provided to contracted CPA for preparation of quarterly statement; reconcile updated reports and request quarterly distribution checks from bank; maintain account files

• Draft an annual operating budget with input from affected parties for submission to governance bodies for approval

• Monitor budget variances and recommend budget reallocations in consultation with the Treasurer for approval by the Council

• Prepare monthly financial statements and perform bank reconciliation

Requirements • Possession of a Bachelors / Honours Degree in Accounting or Finance

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role

• Demonstrated skills in Fund Accounting - Non-Profit

• Proficiency in using QuickBooks and Sage 100

• Experience in Financial Statements Consolidation

• Ability to prepare Year-end Financial Statements

• Experience in Month End Close and Year End Closings

• Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
