Robert Half Assistant Controller in Houston, Pennsylvania
Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity in the transport industry, based in southwest Houston! The role is for an Assistant Controller, who will primarily be responsible for assisting in the preparation of external financial statements and various monthly reporting and reconciliation reports, as well as supervising the Divisional accounting team.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation of external financial statements and various monthly reports primarily related to operations.
• Provide support during external audits, including providing documentation and analysis as needed.
• Play an active role in the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes.
• Oversee unique close considerations related to boat movement, location changes, and other accounting structure adjustments.
• Lead monthly financial review meetings comparing budget vs actual financial results.
• Oversee the preparation and recording of month-end close journal entries to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage intercompany balances between affiliates, including facilitating intercompany transfers and reconciling intercompany eliminations.
• Supervise and oversee monthly and quarterly general ledger reconciliations.
• Stay current on regulations and other industry news and provide executive summaries to management.
• Assist with the implementation and further development of divisional software solutions to improve efficiency.
Skills:
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning
• Knowledge of ADP - Financial Services and Great Plains (GPAC)
• Familiarity with Accounting Functions such as Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience with Auditing and Budget Processes
• Ability to use ERP Solutions effectively.
Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services
• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions
• Knowledge of Great Plains (GPAC)
• Experience with Accounting Functions
• Ability to manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience with Auditing processes
• Knowledge of Budget Processes
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience in a similar role within the Transport industry is desirable
