Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Houston, Texas

Description Join a team of highly skilled, motivated professionals as an Accounts Payable (A/P) Clerk through this opportunity offered by Robert Half. While working closely and reporting to the Accounting Manager, the candidate in this role will be expected to manage the general administrative needs of the AP/Finance Department. The essential functions of this role will include matching and batching code, resolving A/P issues, processing expense reports, updating and reconciling sub-ledger to G/L and processing checks are primary areas of focus. This Accounts Payable Clerk opportunity will be located in the Houston, Texas area and will be a long-term contract / temporary to hire position.

Your responsibilities

  • Handle administrative tasks for the AP/Finance Department

  • Assist with internal and external audits as needed

  • Manage validating, recording, and mailing checks and expedite special handling

  • Handle the customer service needs of internal business partners

  • Sort, register, scan, and store invoices, checks, and other documents

  • Open, sort, and deliver department mail on a daily basis

  • Produce full-cycle A/P

  • Perform daily processes and controls correctly and punctually, ensuring company policies are followed

  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned Requirements - Proven knowledge of account analysis

  • Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Foundational knowledge in account reconciliation

  • Microsoft Excel experience preferred

  • Experience with account reconciliation

  • Well-founded grasp of Provide Ad Hoc

  • Deep understanding of month end closings

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • Demonstrated communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills, especially with both technical and financial backgrounds

  • 5+ years of experience in an A/P role preferred

  • AA or BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business or similar preferred
