Description

A construction related firm located in Northwest Houston is adding a Controller to their growing team! The Controller will be the right hand to the CFO and assist with financial reporting and general accounting.

Job duties include:

• Support all aspects of the accounting department.

• Overall responsibility of the General Ledger accuracy and completeness

• Prepare Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including, but not limited to: bank accounts; subledgers for A/R, A/P, WIP & Inventory; prepaid expenses; and accrued liabilities.

• Monthly financial close including preparing allocations, accruals along with performing analysis & review of income and expense accounts being able to explain variances.

• Assist in the formulation and implementation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.

• Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts.

• Assist in the preparation for the annual audit.

• Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies

• Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate the financial needs of the Company.

• Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.

Ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting and 7+ years progressive accounting experience including 5+ in a leadership role. Experience in a project-based environment including POC and WIP reporting is required. Experience with a large ERP is required, experience with MS Dynamics is a huge plus. This is an in-office position.

Compensation is up to 200K plus bonus and profit share.

Requirements • Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position.

• Proficiency in Month End Close procedures is required.

• Experience with Construction Accounting is essential.

• Knowledge and experience in Project Accounting is necessary.

• Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Proficient in using various accounting software and technologies.

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
