Description A current opening through Robert Half, seeks an ambitious, determined Controller to join the team at a prominent services company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Major responsibilities
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll Requirements - 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Internal reporting experience
Intercompany Accounting experience required
Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation experience preferred
Intercompany experience
Annual Audited Financial Statements experience
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well
