Robert Half Finance is seeking candidates on behalf of a Private Equity portfolio client who have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department, for a Controller position at a reputable company. If you are good at planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff, this role might be right for you. The Controller will be responsible to ensure the company’s deadlines are met with accuracy and completeness of performed duties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the monthly accounting close:

  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Manager, General Partners, and certain portfolio companies, including variances to budget

  • Prepare required journal entries

  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts

  • Initiate and record invoice payments into QuickBooks

  • Assist with Fund reporting requirements

  • Manage capital calls from Portfolio Companies

  • Manage intercompany / related party transactions

  • Interact with Fund Administrator and handle various requests

  • Manage various requests from Investors

  • Manage fixed assets ledger and associated property tax filings

  • Assist with annual audit

  • Assist with annual tax compliance

  • Maintain representation and franchise tax accounts and payments

  • Assist with compliance and reporting for Credit Facilities

  • Manage the annual 1099 process

  • Assist with requests from personnel provider

  • Manage and/or assist with special projects as required

    Requirements

  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA is a must

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience as a Controller preferred

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Experience with Month-end Close Activities

  • Deep understanding of Private Equity Firm

  • Private Equity Fund experience

  • General familiarity with Partnership Taxation

  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting

  • Expertise in Private Equity

  • Private Equity Firm experience desired

  • Adeptness in Monthly Close

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
