Robert Half Controller in Houston, Texas

Description We are in search of a Division Controller to join our team based in Houston, Texas. This role is vital to our financial operations and will involve overseeing financial planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management activities. The Division Controller will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting while complying with GAAP. Additionally, this role will have a specific focus on job costing, percent of completion revenue recognition, and work in progress scheduling.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the finance team both locally and remotely to ensure all financial processes are running smoothly.

• Oversee the entire consolidation process and ensure the correct application of GAAP.

• Conduct job costing and prepare percent of completion revenue recognition reports.

• Oversee work-in-progress scheduling.

• Provide analytical support for budgeting and financial forecasting initiatives.

• Develop internal control guidelines and ensure financial obligations comply with all financial regulatory requirements.

• Optimize processes and manage systems that support reporting, budgeting, and planning.

• Prepare financial statements and report on key metrics to senior management.

• Collaborate with operational teams and executives to identify growth and productivity opportunities.

• Utilize skills in GAAP Accounting, Construction Accounting, percentage (%) of completion, Controllership, Consolidations, Financial Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP& A), and Construction Projects - Accounting for optimal performance.

• Oversee and manage System Implementation processes. Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar capacity

• Extensive knowledge and practical experience with GAAP Accounting

• Proficiency in Construction Accounting, including the ability to handle complex construction projects

• Familiarity with the percentage (%) of completion accounting method

• Experience in Controllership, including overseeing all accounting operations

• Proven ability to handle Consolidations in a complex, multi-entity environment

• Strong skills in Financial Reporting, including the ability to present financial data to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner

• Experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP& A), including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning

• Experience with System Implementation, including the ability to lead or participate in the implementation of new accounting systems or software

• Must possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a high level of integrity.
