Description

We are offering an opportunity for a meticulous and organized individual to join our team as a Controller. Located in Houston, Texas, this role requires the maintenance of all financial records and controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Responsibilities:

• Direct the daily operations of the Accounting Department, including general ledger, accounts payable, and regulatory reporting

• Ensure that internal financial controls are functioning effectively in accordance with GAAP

• Research and resolve technical accounting issues

• Review and manage compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements

• Manage the financial audit request to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of audited financials

• Coordinate the internal control audit requests specific to the Accounting Department

• Review current GAAP pronouncements to determine relevance to the financials and applicable footnote disclosures

• Effectively manage, motivate, and develop the Accounting Department

• Direct the hiring, terminating, promoting, and compensation for the Accounting Department

• Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks related to accounting and financial reporting

• Respond to inquiries from both internal and external customers

• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks and projects

• Excellent communication and leadership skills are necessary for managing the Accounts Payable Manager, Accounting Manager, Sr Accountant, Staff Accountant, and Consultant.

Requirements

• Possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar.

• Experience in public accounting, auditing publicly traded companies' financial statements.

• Strong proficiency in Financial Analysis and Financial Consolidation.

• Significant experience with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP& A).

• Solid understanding of Financial Reporting Standards.

• Proven ability in Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Bank Account Reconciliation.

• Experience performing Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation.

• Ability to provide Direct Supervision to a team of financial professionals.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, an MBA or related advanced degree is preferred.

• CPA or other related accounting designation is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.

• Proficiency in the use of financial management software.

• Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in performance.

• Ability to meet and establish deadlines.

• Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours.

• Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction
