A successful company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half to take responsibility for its accounting and clerical department. Based in the Houston, Texas area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. To succeed in this role, you will need to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. Responsibilities
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
Manufacturing experience
MBA or CPA are preferred
