Robert Half Cost Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description We are looking to recruit a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas. The selected candidate will be tasked with handling all cost accounting procedures for the production site, including cost analysis, cost computations, and financial reporting. This role also involves engaging in budgeting processes, evaluating the company's manufacturing operations, labor, and inventory costs and analyzing variances.

Responsibilities:

• Handle all cost accounting procedures for the production site, including cost analysis, cost computations, and financial reporting.

• Prepare and present periodic financial statements and reports, including annual budgets, to the management team.

• Evaluate the company's manufacturing operations, equipment, labor, and inventory costs and analyze variances.

• Participate in budgeting processes, working closely with the production and materials management teams to formulate forecasts and analyze cost trends.

• Perform monthly closings, prepare general ledger entries, develop supporting schedules, and create detailed portfolio reports.

• Proactively evaluate inventory levels, assessing accuracy, turnover rates, and inventory controls to minimize losses.

• Assist in product costing by maintaining bills of materials and labor routes and analyzing production overheads.

• Collaborate with cross-functional departments during the production planning process and provide cost insight into new product design and manufacturing initiatives.

• Maintain conformance with GAAP and abide by internal policies to ensure financial integrity and accuracy.

• Participate in annual physical inventory counts and regular cycle counts, ensuring alignment with the perpetual inventory system. Requirements • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in Cost Accounting

• Must have proficiency in Cost Analysis

• Demonstrated experience in Manufacturing Cost Accounting is required

• Knowledge and experience in Standard Cost Accounting is essential

• Proficiency in Production Planning is necessary

• Must have experience in Inventory Forecasting

• Proficiency in Budgeting and Forecasting is required

• Must have experience in Month End Close processes

• Demonstrated experience in Monthly Financial Reporting is required.
