Houston Healthcare Senior Manager






Client Responsibilities:

The Healthcare Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction meets or exceeds performance measures for client service. The Healthcare Senior Manager also maintains primary responsibility for developing healthcare business (primarily for delivery segments such as physicians, hospitals, etc.), either focusing on growing healthcare operations within the Houston and West U.S. markets, OR expanding our revenue cycle management capabilities nationally. This includes managing existing client relationships, and ensuring that Protiviti is positioned to deliver on all their needs within the designated area of expertise. The Healthcare Senior Manager is also responsible for continually bringing new clients to the organization, the profitability of client related work, and managing the risk to the firm’s business on all existing engagements and in new business development.

People Responsibilities:

The Healthcare Senior Manager takes a key role in the development of our people by mentoring and further developing the careers of our Healthcare Management team and Senior and Experienced Consultants, by leading efforts to bring talented healthcare resources into the organization, and by playing a role in ensuring adequate resources are provided for the development of Protiviti’s people, including appropriate training, job experience, etc. The Healthcare Senior Manager is comfortable working with other business leaders and is respected within the broader business community. The Healthcare Senior Manager is looked to for advice and sets an example as an ethical leader driven by integrity and respect.


Business Development:

  • Achieve or exceed revenue targets and sales goals

  • Collaborate with the Global HCLS Industry Lead, West Region HCLS Lead, Internal Audit & Advisory Leaders, West Region Geography Lead, and Houston Office Lead to develop and execute both short and long-term market development strategies

  • Market the Protiviti brand

  • Build and foster the cross-selling and delivery relationship with Robert Half (parent company)

    Client Service Delivery:

  • Maintain responsibility for the quality of healthcare services provided across a variety of solutions, including Business Performance Improvement and Internal and IT Audit services

  • Maintain risk/reward balance on all engagements to ensure the highest profitability at the lowest risk

    Professional Competence and Development:

  • Expanding our revenue cycle management capabilities nationally

  • Be active in the marketplace and speaking/participating at local and national events to foster exposure

  • Assisting with the development of thought leadership

  • Staying abreast of regulatory changes impacting the healthcare industry as a whole

  • Provide leadership in civic and community opportunities

    Teamwork and People Management:

  • Foster an environment of mutual respect and teamwork by all personnel in geography to allow for creative expression and contribution

  • Collaborate effectively with solution leaders, office leads, and regional healthcare leads to target and pursue opportunities in the market

  • Recruit and retain top talent within the Houston market, and other markets as healthcare revenues and market share continues to expand

  • Mentor, develop and assess performance of key healthcare personnel

  • Efficiently deploy all resources housed in the Houston healthcare practice

  • Hold local or regional healthcare team and management meetings


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline. MBA or MHA is a plus.

  • 9+ years in related field, preferably with a strong professional services background in healthcare consulting, internal audit or related services.

  • Executive presence and reputation in the marketplace as evidenced by leadership roles in professional organizations (industry visibility through conferences, trade associations, etc., such as HFMA, HCCA, AHIA, AHLA, etc.) and extent of market contacts.

  • Related professional and industry certifications are a plus.


  • Experience managing engagement teams and providing leadership in the assessment, design, and management of healthcare process improvement, compliance or revenue cycle transformation services.

  • Ability to use knowledge of the current healthcare environment and industry trends to identify the engagement and client service issues and communicate this information to the engagement team and client management through written correspondence and verbal presentations.

  • Knowledge of key healthcare provider/delivery-side processes (e.g., revenue cycle operations, regulatory compliance, healthcare application specific technologies, acute vs post-acute settings, physician organizations, hospitals, etc.).


  • Prior experience in the healthcare industry, preferably provider operations including hospitals, physician practices and ancillary services.

  • Understanding of revenue cycle operations.

  • Knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Stark, Anti-kickback and other industry-relevant compliance requirements.

  • Provider billing and reimbursement, including revenue recognition and accounts receivable management.

  • General knowledge of healthcare provider operations, including hospitals, physician practices, home health, hospice, and skilled nursing.

  • Relevant regulatory knowledge within the industry including, but not limited to, CMS, OIG, HIPAA, ACA, etc.

  • Key healthcare provider processes including, but not limited to, charge capture, billing, collections, compliance, patient access, medical records, physician relationships, financial operations, foundation, etc.
