Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Houston, Texas. This role will be performed in a hybrid work schedule, with one day a week onsite and the rest remotely. The job function is primarily in the telecommunications industry, where the Sr. Accountant will play a key role in high-risk accounting processes and data analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Research and reconcile cash transactions in the Oracle Cash Management Tool for Corporate Accounting owned cash disbursement accounts.

• Prepare and process journal entries monthly by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs, and preparing audit trail support.

• Complete month-end and year-end close functions, including preparing journal entries, assisting with the review of department financials, and working with other departments and field business units throughout the close process.

• Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.

• Assist with the maintenance and application of internal controls.

• Work closely with various departments and lead monthly meetings with these teams to discuss new and ongoing matters identified in reconciliations, journal entries, or through other reviews.

• Prepare and review financial reports in a timely and accurate manner, and complete individual analytical projects given abstract project guidelines.

• Participate in monthly financial meetings for discussions and review of pertinent matters.

Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis.

• Familiar with Oracle and Blackline software.

• Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting.

• Ability to conduct research and review cash activities.

• Knowledge of financial reporting, journal entries, and closing processes.

• Experience with reconciliations, internal control, and balance sheet account management.

• Comfortable working onsite and remotely.

• Familiarity with cash management and business unit operations. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Oracle is required for managing data analysis and financial notes.

• Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and interaction with business units.

• Expertise in cash activity, cash management, and balance sheet account management is essential.

• Knowledge of office functions and workstation support is necessary for efficient daily operations.

• Must have experience in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) to manage company finances.

• Ability to perform audit and review tasks to ensure financial accuracy and adherence to internal controls.

• Proficiency in performing reconciliations, closing processes, and journal entries is necessary for financial reporting.

• Research skills are required to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.

• Must have experience in financial reporting, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements.

• Familiarity with the software 'About Time' is a plus for efficient task management.

• Onsite presence is required to perform duties effectively.

• Must have a strong understanding of finance concepts and principles.

• Ability to support and train other team members in their roles.

• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Strong analytical skills and detail-oriented approach are required.

• Must possess excellent problem-solving skills.

• Experience in a similar role or industry is highly desirable.
