Robert Half Medical Collections Specialist in Houston, Texas
Description
Our client, located in the Houston Galleria area, is currently in need of a Revenue Cycle Medical Collections Specialist on a contract basis. The responsibilities of the Revenue Cycle Medical Collections Specialist will be to follow up on past due accounts for resolution of claim denials by communicating with carriers, physician offices, patients, and management to achieve resolution of issues and claims payment. Additional responsibilities include analyzing both patient accounts and payer Explanation of Benefit responses to determine next action item for resolution of claims, identifying adjustments, refunds, and payment breakdown amounts, submitting complete and detailed appeals, reviewing aging reports, including monitoring delays in payments, past due statuses, and future AR forecasts, among other duties as needed.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Teams are required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed, as well as strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
Ability to work well under pressure and have an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Possess a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
Ability to work with both internal and external customers in a team atmosphere
Self-motivated
Requirements
Knowledge of explanation of benefits (EOBs)
Solid understanding of medical collections
Expertise in Microsoft Excel
Strong technical skills including proficiency with MS Office
Previous experience working with an electronic medical system required
Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 1 year of prior healthcare collections experience
