Job Description

The Senior Associate uses business and accounting acumen, in conjunction with the responsibilities outlined below, to support:

• Preparation of U.S. Federal and State motor fuels tax return filings,

• Tax technical research surrounding motor fuels tax, registration, and filing requirements,

• Implementation and maintenance of tax automation software and data analytics tools that facilitate motor fuels tax return preparation and filing, and

• His or her supervisor(s) on various projects as needed by contributing in a cooperative, respectful manner to enhance the work of others and promote a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Preliminary Tax Return Reviewer

• Interacts with Client(s) on pre-defined topics for ongoing projects with defined scope and participants

• Knows what and where to find answers for completing research; provides guidance to Associate and Intern/Extended Intern

• Knows what to do when using Excel and is efficient; can reconcile to zero

• Knows how to identify issues, propose solutions or at least suggest next steps

• Able to complete technical writing assignments with clarity and understanding

• Has specific areas of tax technical knowledge on any return as long as the tax imposition point is known

• Completes research and provides support for sales opportunities pursued by his or her supervisor(s)

• May direct activities of others as a developmental activity and complete coaching and training to develop soft skills

Requirements

• 2-5 years of professional experience in accounting, information technology (IT) or management information systems (MIS)

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel

Education Required

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, information technology (IT) or management information systems (MIS) or a Master’s degree in accounting

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in accounting with qualifications to pass the CPA exam or a Master's degree in accounting
