Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Houston, Texas


Are you a tech saavy Payroll Specialist that enjoys remote work Our client located in Northwest Houston, Gessner Road and Northwest Freeway, has an immediate need for a part-time Payroll Specialist. The part-time, 15-30 hours per week, Payroll Specialist will be working hybrid (remote with 1 day a week in office). The most qualified candidate for the role will have 2+ years of recent full-cycle payroll experience, intermediate Excel skills, UGK experience and experience with multi-company payroll!

This dynamic and employee focused company is immedidately hiring the right candidate with a great personality and team player mentality! This position will pay up to $36/hr on a contract basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the payroll disbursement process for 400+ permanent employees between three companies.

  • Supporting the company commission, bonus, and short-term incentive payout process.

  • Receive and process garnishments (i.e. bankruptcy orders, child support, creditor garnishments, tax levies and wage assignments) in accordance with regulation and company policy to ensure proper amounts are withheld and remitted to the proper authority

  • Coordinate with People & Culture to obtain proper information for all new hires, personnel changes and terminations (i.e. personnel forms, Federal, state and local tax forms, direct deposit enrollment, etc.)

  • Helping to maintain the general payroll email accounts.

  • Aiding with the statement distribution process including but not limited to preparing payroll, commission, and check statements for distribution.

  • Assisting with Year-End processing including input of taxable fringe benefit amounts, reconciliation of wages/taxes and distribution of Form W-2s.

  • Documenting and maintaining detailed procedures for regular and periodic tasks.

  • Assist Finance & PAC in completing payroll reporting requirements.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Full-cycle payroll processing (300+ employees)

  • Multi-company payroll

  • Garnishments and deducations

  • Processing and paying commissions

  • Payroll process and procedures

  • Month/Year-end close and reporting

  • Excel

  • UltiPro HRIS, UltiPro, UGK a huge plus

  • Degree preferred

  • Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented

  • Strong communicator and team player

  • Great attitude
