Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting and Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team at a local oil and gas company. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in public accounting, SEC reporting, Workiva, technical accounting, and financial accounting. This position is integral to our financial reporting and compliance efforts, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial statements.
Key Responsibilities:
SEC Reporting:
Prepare and file SEC reports, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, and other required filings.
Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and reporting requirements.
Assist in the preparation of earnings releases and related materials.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit processes.
Maintain and enhance the financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Technical Accounting:
Research and interpret complex accounting issues and provide guidance on technical accounting matters.
Implement new accounting standards and ensure compliance with existing standards.
Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
Public Accounting:
Utilize experience from public accounting to improve internal processes and controls.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Workiva Platform:
Utilize Workiva software for financial reporting, SEC filings, and compliance management.
Ensure efficient and effective use of the Workiva platform to streamline reporting processes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA certification is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on SEC reporting.
Proven experience in technical accounting and financial reporting within the oil and gas industry.
Proficiency in using Workiva or similar financial reporting software.
Strong understanding of GAAP and SEC regulations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working within the oil and gas industry.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
