Robert Half Senior Staff Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description

We are in the process of recruiting a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team in the Real Estate Development industry, based in Houston, Texas. The role involves handling various accounting tasks related to land development, including processing journal entries, conducting financial audits, and managing special projects, accounting for fixed assets, land draws and working with operations.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the month-end closing process to generate timely and accurate financial statements.

• Assist in preparing journal entries and running reports.

• Carry out general ledger reconciliations and account reconciliations.

• Provide support during financial audits and ensure bond compliance.

• Manage special projects and perform ad hoc financial analysis as required.

• Establish new accounting processes for business initiatives.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne for various accounting tasks.

• Respond promptly to operational queries, ensuring a high level of support.

• Monitor and manage customer credit applications and records.

• Balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the Real Estate - Developers or construction industry.

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Demonstrated expertise in handling General Ledger and Journal Entries

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required

• Must have experience in Month End Close procedures

• Familiarity with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software is a plus

• Must have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must have a strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively

• Must be legally authorized to work in the country without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.
