Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description Your talents will be used to prepare and consolidate financial statements, analyze and reconcile accounts, analyze cash flow, build budgets and forecasts, prepare audits, and handle internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. Candidates need to bring strong analytical skills to the role and should be capable of handling challenging, fast-paced work environments. Employees receive solid compensation and benefits. Your responsibilities

  • Manage Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls; while also providing support on special requests when required

  • Contribute to coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Produce error-free monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP

  • Review financial information such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc. and present analysis in a clear manner

  • Present Balance Sheet account reconciliations

  • Allocate and prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis reports for management

  • Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process

  • Apply oneself to various department-wide initiatives Requirements - Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • 3+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Great attention to detail

  • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Proficiency with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Proficiency in Federal Tax

  • Expertise in account reconciliation

  • Solid understanding of month end closings

  • Foundational knowledge in Monthly Financial Statements

  • Skilled at time management

  • Experience in SOX control execution/documentation

  • Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • ERP system experience
