Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description Your talents will be used to prepare and consolidate financial statements, analyze and reconcile accounts, analyze cash flow, build budgets and forecasts, prepare audits, and handle internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This position requires top-notch analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. How you will make an impact

  • Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Work with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests

  • Manage Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Commitment to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

  • Produce monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management purposes

  • Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)

  • Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP

  • Present Balance Sheet account reconciliations Requirements - Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • SOX internal control assessments (Section 404) experience

  • Strong time management skills preferred

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • Experience with cash forecasting

  • Proficiency in account reconciliation

  • General ledger experience preferred

  • Journal entries experience

  • Month end closings experience desired

  • 2+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions
