Description

Our client, a well-established and respected non-profit organization is seeking a highly motivated Contract Staff Accountant to join our team. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone passionate about non-profit work to help further our cause.

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and reviewing the financial systems, procedures, and internal controls of the organization. This position will primarily focus on accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, financial reporting, and conducting audits as necessary

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close work.

  • Analyzing and preparing financial statements including monthly and annual accounts based upon financial information.

  • Create annual forecast and budget, including operating and capital budgets.

  • Oversee accounts receivable and payable.

  • Assuring compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations and laws.

  • Reviewing and managing internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Participating in financial audits.

    Requirements

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of [Specify required years of experience] experience in accounting or related field.

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.

  • Experience with accounting software and strong knowledge of system implementation.

  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a non-profit setting is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification.
