Cindy Bradley at Robert Half is actively recruiting for a Tax Manager to join this company's growing TAX TEAM of a well-established privately held organization located in WEST HOUSTON. The Tax Manager will be instrumental in overseeing tax compliance, managing tax consulting projects, and developing strategic tax planning for the business and its shareholders. This role will also involve research on complex tax issues, managing process improvements, and keeping abreast of changes in tax laws.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible and confidential handling of consumer and customer data.

• Ensuring compliance with data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.

• Liaise with the Accounting department to ensure tax planning aligns with the company's operations and ongoing projects.

• Evaluate tax compliance and create necessary reports, such as Form 1120S, 1040, 1065, 1042, and quarterly shareholder tax projections.

• Manage tax consulting projects to provide efficient transaction execution advice and potential planning opportunities.

• Assist in developing tax strategies for federal, state, and international tax purposes.

• Oversee process improvements for enhanced departmental efficiency and inter-department coordination.

• Research complex tax-related issues and succinctly communicate findings to management.

• Collaborate with the Tax Department to ensure accurate tax compliance and implementation of taxation plans.

• Monitor changes in tax laws, proposals, court decisions, IRS and state rulings to best minimize tax consequences for the organization and shareholders.

• Assist with state and federal tax notices and audits.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• Directly supervise one or more employees.

• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and appraising employees' performance.

• Task allocation, performance reward, employee discipline and problem resolution in line with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college/university.

• 8 - 10 years of relevant experience with at least 6 years in public accounting.

• MUST HAVE Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation.

• Master’s degree and experience in a family office tax department preferred.

• A strong team player with experience in federal tax compliance and consulting - focused on S Corporations, partnerships, privately held businesses, and strategic transaction planning.

• Knowledge and experience with flow through structure implications for individual owners and associated tax planning to minimize tax at the ownership level.

• Proficient in project management.

• Able to communicate complex tax issues to various levels of internal and external parties.

• Strong research and analytical skills to address complex tax issues.

• Able to cultivate relationships and work closely with others.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in a tax-related role, ideally in corporate taxation. Like to see 5 plus years of PUBLIC ACCOUNTING

• Proficiency in accounting functions and operations.

• Demonstrated knowledge of federal tax laws and regulations, including federal tax return preparation and filing.

• Expertise in corporate tax compliance and corporate tax return procedures.

• Ability to develop and implement tax planning strategies.

• Proven track record in ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree. CPA a MUST

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in relevant tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
