Job Title: Vice President of Accounting

Job Description :

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic leader to join our team as Vice President (VP) of Accounting. The VP of Accounting will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for leading the accounting department in our health plan statutory accounting environment. This role will not only be instrumental in managing daily accounting activities but also transforming the department to optimize operations and support the significant growth of our company.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Revenue Recognition, and etc.

  2. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

  3. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

  4. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

  5. Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

  6. Manage the preparation and support of all external audits.

  7. Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conservation of assets.

  8. Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry.

  9. Collaborate with executive leadership to define, articulate, and implement accounting strategies for substantial business growth expansively.

  10. Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

  11. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. An advanced degree in finance or CPA certification would be a plus.

  2. Proven experience as a VP of Accounting or similar leadership role in a health plan statutory accounting environment.

  3. Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.

  4. Experience in a senior management position for a health insurance company is strongly preferred.

  5. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and best practices.

  6. Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.

  7. Ability to strategically lead, motivate, and develop high performing teams.

  8. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

  9. Proficient in MS Office and business enterprise software systems.
