We are on the lookout for a meticulous Accounting Manager to join non-profit company in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Accounting Manager will be primarily responsible for managing day-to-day transactions, assisting in year-end processes, and ensuring the accuracy of general ledger accounts. This role is a contract-to-hire employment opportunity, offering the chance to work within an evolving industry and contribute significantly to our team.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare accounting transactions to maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, transaction processing, invoicing, and monthly reconciliations.

• Oversee the month end close process and prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

• Manage daily transactions and accounting tasks, providing guidance and management to staff as needed.

• Handle payroll and payroll tax reporting, research, and reconciliation.

• Prepare monthly revenue and operating expense reports compared to budget, research and report on variances, and assist budget owners with mitigating variances.

• Assist with calendar and fiscal year end processes, including managing 1099 filing processes, expense reporting software, and annual audits.

• Prepare corporate and state filings, assist with annual budget process and analysis, and manage general liability insurance application and payment tracking.

• Collaborate with staff to issue annual scholarships and maintain scholarship accounts.

• Update accounting procedures as needed and suggest and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets.

• Coordinate with software vendor to maintain accounting software system and recommend updates to enhance the software.

Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services

• Knowledge of ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions

• Ability to manage all Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Skills in Auditing and Billing Functions

• Proficiency in using Abila MIP

• Ability to Identify, Explain, Investigate, and report on Monthly Variance

• Experience in conducting Annual External Audit

• Capable of managing Month End Close

• Understanding of Company Revenue Recognition

• Experience in Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Account Reconciliation

• Able to work independently and in a team

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Several years of experience in a similar role

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
