Robert Half Fleet & Safety Manager in Indianapolis, Indiana


The Fleet & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the organization's fleet operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role involves managing a fleet of vehicles, implementing safety protocols, and developing strategies to enhance overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Management:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the organization's fleet, including vehicles, drivers, and maintenance activities.

  • Coordinate vehicle procurement, replacement, and disposal processes.

  • Monitor and analyze fleet performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.

Safety Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for drivers and other relevant staff.

  • Investigate and analyze accidents or incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to establish and maintain a proactive vehicle maintenance program.

  • Schedule routine maintenance and inspections for all fleet vehicles.

  • Ensure that all vehicles meet safety and emissions standards.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets related to fleet operations, safety programs, and maintenance.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize fleet expenses.

Technology Integration:

  • Explore and implement technology solutions to enhance fleet management and safety monitoring, such as telematics and GPS systems.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements to continuously improve fleet operations.


  • Generate and analyze reports on key performance indicators related to fleet and safety.

  • Provide regular updates to senior management on fleet performance, safety compliance, and cost management.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

• Self-starter requiring minimal supervision

• 5+ years in an administrative role working with a fleet of vehicles

• 5+ years’ experience in a safety role

• 5+ years’ experience managing a fleet of 100+ vehicles

• 3+ years of experience handling worker’s compensation claims

• 3+ years of experience with safety programs

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
