Description We are searching for a diligent and meticulous Mailroom Assistant to join our team in INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana. This role will involve a range of tasks related to handling and sorting mail within a secure room environment. This opportunity offers a short term contract employment opportunity within the non-profit sector.

Responsibilities:

• Sorting and organizing incoming mail, ensuring it is correctly directed to the appropriate department or individual

• Handling and moving packages of mail, which may include lifting heavy items

• Opening and sorting the contents of envelopes according to type

• Scanning documents using specialized equipment like the Falcon Scanner

• Performing pre-processing tasks for memberships

• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the mail room, as we are responsible for our own cleaning

• Ensuring strict adherence to security protocols, including keeping phones and other unauthorized items out of the secure room

• Operating in a production environment which may sometimes be noisy or dusty

• Remaining on task for long periods, which may involve sitting, standing, or walking. Requirements • Proven experience working in a mailroom or similar environment

• Familiarity with mail sorting and distribution processes

• Proficiency in scanning documents and managing electronic files

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities

• Attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Good physical stamina to lift and move heavy packages when necessary

• Basic computer skills for maintaining records and databases

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues and external contacts

• Willingness to adhere to all company policies and regulations regarding mail handling
