We are in search of a Mailroom Assistant to join our team on the east s ide of Indianapolis, Indiana. In this role, you will play an integral part in ensuring the efficient operation of our mailroom in a non-profit organization setting. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity and is pivotal in processing memberships and managing the secure room.

Responsibilities

• Sorting incoming mail and preparing it for distribution, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

• Scanning documents as needed and ensuring they are correctly filed and easily retrievable.

• Delivering sorted mail to the appropriate individuals or departments within the organization.

• Processing memberships by following established procedures and standards.

• Maintaining the security of the mailroom, ensuring that all protocols are adhered to.

• Handling heavy mail items, which may involve lifting and moving mail packages.

• Operating in a secure room environment, adhering to stringent security protocols.

• Ensuring regular attendance and punctuality, as these are crucial factors in this role.

• Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, promoting efficiency and productivity.

• Performing additional duties as required, which may include long periods of sitting, standing, or walking.

Requirements • Prior experience in a mailroom environment is preferred

• Familiarity with mailroom procedures and protocols

• Proficiency in using scanning equipment

• Ability to sort and distribute mail accurately and efficiently

• Strong organizational skills to manage large volumes of mail

• Ability to lift heavy packages and parcels

• Good communication skills to interact with staff and couriers

• Basic knowledge of postal rates and postage meter machines

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive mail

• Willingness to adhere to all mailroom procedures and company policies.
