Robert Half International Payroll Administrator in Iowa City, Iowa


Candidates with proficiency at Microsoft Office applications will be preferred for Robert Half's opening for a Payroll Administrator. You will be a part of a dynamic team with an opportunity for career growth. The Payroll Administrator position is a long-term contract / temporary opportunity based out of Iowa City, Iowa.

What you get to do every single day

  • Provide assistance as necessary for all internal and external audits related to payroll

  • Using federal and state regulations and guidelines, ensure company compliance

  • Protect confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence

  • Compile all information in reference to summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages for reports

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies via information collection and analysis

  • Report changes where necessary after maintaining payroll operations via company policies and procedures

  • Handle other duties as necessary

  • Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments to establish payroll liabilities

  • Offer proper review and verification of source documents

  • Updating payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers

  • Exercise of proper data management by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data

  • Manage issues related to employee deductions and other liabilities, including reconciling

  • Handle specific weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for department heads

  • Answer questions and requests related to payroll information

Requirements - Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

  • Expertise with internal controls

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills

  • Prior experience using accounting software

  • Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional

  • Solid understanding of bi-Monthly Payroll

  • Well-founded grasp of Process Biweekly Payroll

  • Foundational knowledge in Multi-state Payroll

  • Experience with payroll systems for 100-500 employees

  • General familiarity with Process Bi-weekly Payroll

  • Strong familiarity with Local Payroll Tax

  • Proven knowledge of payroll for over 500 employees

  • Command of Full Cycle Payroll

  • Data entry, document management, file creation and previous records experience required

  • Expertise in federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

  • Relevant experience of 2+ years in payroll

  • Capable of managing high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
