Robert Half Assistant Controller in Irving, Texas
Description Robert Half has partnered with a growing financial services organization to find their next Assistant Controller, based in Irving, Texas. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in leading the corporate accounting team, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies, and interacting with various levels of the organization and external auditors.
Responsibilities: • Oversee accounting and reporting functions, general ledger reconciliation, and the development of accounting policies. • Manage the accurate and timely execution of month-end close accounting functions, including the preparation of financial statements and related analytics. • Research and explain fluctuations in balance sheet accounts and income statements. • Support the development of policies and provide advice on accounting and internal control issues, reporting needs, and policy review and changes. • Identify and lead initiatives for process improvement, system implementations, and system maintenance. • Drive accounting-related initiatives across the organization in cooperation with business leaders, vendors, and consultants. • Actively contribute to the development and mentorship of staff for succession planning and career growth. • Assist in the adoption of new accounting standards including, but not limited to, researching standards, preparing written accounting policies for the company, and preparing new disclosures. • Oversee and/or assist with external audits (banking compliance and financial). • Assist with related special projects as required. • Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the financial services industry.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.
• Proven experience in Public Accounting and Public Accounting Audit is necessary.
• Prior experience in a Big 4 Accounting Firm is a plus.
• Proficiency in Oracle is essential.
• Must have experience in Full Cycle Accounting.
• Experience in Direct Supervision is a key requirement.
• Familiarity with industry practices and detail oriented standards in financial services is expected.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team is necessary.
• Must have a high level of integrity, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
• Familiarity with financial regulations and standards is a must.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required.
• Must have the ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.
• Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
• Must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is expected.
