Robert Half Staff Accountant in Jacksonville, Florida
Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector based in Jacksonville, Florida. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and requires an individual who can handle various accounting processes and reporting duties. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in our finance department, ensuring accurate and efficient handling of accounting tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough research and develop accounting policies in line with GAAP
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly reports for the Florida Department of Education
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes for various programs
• Investigate student accounts and make necessary adjustments
• Allocate monthly interest to student accounts
• Process returns for various entities such as the West Virginia State Treasurer office and the Florida Department of Education
• Prepare reports for reimbursements to the Florida Prepaid College Program/529
• Assist in monitoring internal controls and develop changes to processes and procedures for increased efficiency
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of systems
• Support the CFO, Controller, and Program Accounting Manager with annual audit(s) and tax return requests
• Manage the processing of crosscheck returns semiannually. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the non-profit sector
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Demonstrated experience with Bank Reconciliations
• Familiarity with General Ledger management
• Proven ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Knowledge of NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP software
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Detail-oriented with high levels of accuracy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
