Robert Half Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director in Jersey City, New Jersey

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director in the Education - University sector located in Hoboken, New Jersey. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing payroll operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and supervising other payroll personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the accurate and efficient processing of semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls.

• Prepare and approve payroll adjustments including tax refunds, payment reversals, and year-end W2 adjustments.

• Review and respond to tax notices and garnishments from agencies in coordination with our 3rd party vendor.

• Verify the data entry of Payroll Administrators and approve the completion and settlement of each payroll to be transmitted.

• Collaborate with Human Resources on employee pay and benefit items.

• Ensure the proper distribution of payroll to the correct general ledger accounts.

• Reconcile and approve invoices from our external payroll vendors.

• Identify and implement improvements to business processes to enhance performance, save costs, and improve the quality of work.

• Oversee the reconciliation of 941 quarterly taxes processed by ADP v Workday.

• Assist auditors with requests and questions related to payroll.

• Conduct weekly Payroll Team meetings and manage special tasks as assigned.

Skills:

• Proficient in using Workday for payroll management. Requirements • Applicant must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field

• A minimum of five years of experience in payroll, preferably in an educational institution

• Strong knowledge of Workday HRIS system is essential

• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to supervise a team

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Excellent understanding of payroll tax laws, regulations, and best practices

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus

• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Experience with international payroll processing is preferred

• Ability to problem-solve and make informed decisions.
