Description

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess 2-4 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferably within the real estate industry. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in financial reporting, accruals, and possess knowledge of property accounting principles. Experience with Yardi software is considered a significant advantage. As a Senior Property Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data related to our real estate portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for assigned properties in accordance with GAAP standards. This includes income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Accruals and Adjustments: Manage accrual entries and adjustments to accurately reflect property performance and financial position. Ensure adherence to accounting principles and company policies.

  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger for assigned properties, including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of property budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted expectations and provide variance analysis.

  • Property Tax Compliance: Collaborate with external tax consultants to ensure timely and accurate preparation of property tax returns. Review assessments and tax bills for accuracy and contest discrepancies when necessary.

  • Audit Support: Facilitate the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and assisting in the resolution of audit findings.

  • Cash Management: Monitor cash flow for assigned properties, including reviewing cash receipts and disbursements, and maintaining adequate cash reserves.

  • Tenant Lease Administration: Work closely with the lease administration team to ensure accurate and timely recording of tenant leases and related transactions. Verify rent calculations and escalate discrepancies as needed.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Reporting: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required by governing entities.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen internal controls within the property accounting function.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • CPA certification or progress towards CPA eligibility (2-4 years).

  • Previous experience in property accounting, preferably within the real estate industry.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software, with experience in Yardi strongly preferred.

  • Solid understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines effectively.
