In the Senior Accountant role, you will support the company's goals by preparing and consolidating financial statements, analyzing and reconciling accounts, analyzing cash flow, establishing budgets and forecasting, preparing audits, and handling internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. Candidates must be highly skilled at analytics. This full-time position includes solid compensation, good benefits, and the possibility to grow. This Senior Accountant role is based in Jersey City, New Jersey with a company in the Communications field.
What you get to do every day
When working with business partners, ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls. Additionally, be able to provide support on special requests
Offer involvement in various department-wide initiatives
Perform monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP
Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions
Provide assistance in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external
Formulate Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Delegate resources to Ad-hoc projects as necessary
Review financial information such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc. and present analysis in a clear manner
Provide monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting Requirements - Experience in SOX control execution/documentation
Skilled at time management
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Microsoft Excel experience desired
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Proficient in ERP systems
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Understanding of corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well
