Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Jersey City, New Jersey

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the insurance industry. This role is located in Jersey City, New Jersey, and focuses on providing comprehensive financial support for a specific book of business. The Sr. Accountant will be the main point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders, including Underwriting teams, IT personnel, and external clients.

Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain a client-facing relationship for a specific book of business

• Accurately prepare and present the Reinsurance Statement of Account to Reinsurance Brokers and/or Reinsurers

• Handle the preparation and processing of Cash Receipts and Disbursements, including the payment and/or recovery of reinsurance

• Prepare Letter of Credit Funding Requirements on a quarterly basis and submit to Reinsurers/Captives

• Conduct research and analysis based on client requests on an ad hoc basis

• Build strong business partnerships while gaining a thorough understanding of the business being supported

• Regularly communicate and interact with various internal and external contacts

• Reconcile the General Ledger for accounts that pertain to Alternative Market’s Balance Sheet

• Take on Key Assignments/Special Projects as assigned

• Utilize skills such as Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, General Ledger, and Microsoft Excel in daily operations. Requirements • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant in the insurance industry is necessary.

• Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations.

• Strong knowledge of General Ledger and Journal Entries is required.

• Expertise in Microsoft Excel is essential.

• Experience in Month End Close procedures is a must.

• Familiarity with Reinsurance is highly beneficial.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.

• Knowledge of accounting software and databases is a plus.
