This position creates financial transactions and creates financial reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting journals in Blackbaud accounting software from source documents such as invoices, cash receipts, payroll, bank reconciliation, tax payments, and auditing requirements.
Duties and responsibilities:
Pay vendor invoices in a timely manner
Take all reasonable discounts on vendor invoices
Pay any debt as it comes due for payment
Monitor debt levels in compliance with budget
Ensure that receivables are collected promptly
Process payroll to payroll vendor in a timely manner
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account
Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
Issue financial statements monthly
Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements to director
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Maintain the chart of accounts within Blackbaud
Maintain the annual budget
Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested
Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit
The business manager candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of Blackbaud accounting software package.
Knowledge of accounting principles
Knowledge of computerized accounting functions
Knowledge of Excel and other spreadsheet software.
Extensive experience in account analysis and budget preparation
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Strong commitment to public service
Ability to work with library customers and staff in a friendly and efficient manner
Good interpersonal skills for working within a team environment
Excellent English communication skills, oral and written, and public-speaking presentation skills
Ability to communicate technical financial information to non-technical staff
Ability to maintain reliable attendance and regular schedule
Flexibility to adapt to changing work situations
Manual dexterity to operate computer and phone equipment
Valid driver's license, acceptable driving history, and personal automobile for job-related transportation
